Everyone ordered something different?
An even split punishes whoever got the side salad. SplitSnap scans the receipt with AI, reads every line item, and lets you assign each dish to whoever ordered it — tax and tip distributed fairly, settled in seconds.
Bill splitting, answered
How do you split a bill with tip?
Add the tip to the bill total first, then divide by the number of people. For example, an $80 bill with an 18% tip is $94.40 total, or $23.60 each between four people. This calculator does that math instantly, and rounds each share up to the cent so the group never comes up short.
Should tip be calculated before or after tax?
Etiquette guides generally suggest tipping on the pre-tax subtotal, but most groups simply tip on the printed total for simplicity. This calculator applies the tip percentage to the amount you enter, so use whichever base your group prefers.
What if everyone ordered different things?
An even split is unfair when orders differ a lot. For item-by-item splitting, scan the receipt with the SplitSnap app — its AI reads every line item so you can assign each dish to whoever ordered it, with tax and tip distributed proportionally.
