Benchmark ("we", "our", or "the app") is a strength standards app for iOS made by Culi Studio. It is built around a simple rule: your training numbers are yours. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server of ours that stores your lifts - the percentile is computed on your device against comparison curves that ship inside the app.
This policy explains the little the app handles - local lift data, anonymous bucketed usage analytics you can switch off, and purchases processed by Apple - and your rights.
No Account, Ever
Benchmark requires no account, no email address and no sign-in. At first launch it asks for your bodyweight and sex - the statistical parameters that select a comparison dataset - and an optional age you can skip. None of these identify you, and none of them leave your device.
Your Lifts Stay on Your Device
Every lift you check, your bodyweight, your age and your full history are stored locally on your iPhone. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. They are included in your encrypted iPhone backup, and if you delete the app they are gone. There is no cloud copy in this version, and any future sync would use your own iCloud account - never a Culi Studio server.
The Percentile Is Computed Offline
The comparison curves - derived from the public-domain OpenPowerlifting competition dataset - ship inside the app. When you check a lift, the calculation happens entirely on your device, which is why the core of Benchmark works in airplane mode. No lift you enter is ever sent anywhere to be scored.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
Benchmark records anonymous usage analytics: which screens get used, and roughly where percentiles land, in ten-point bands. We never record your actual lifted weights, your bodyweight, your age, or anything that identifies you. Analytics are processed by PostHog using a device-scoped identifier that is not linked to your identity, and Settings → Privacy switches collection off entirely. Nothing about analytics blocks or delays anything you do in the app.
Data Stored on Your Device
- Your profile: bodyweight, sex, optional age, and preferred unit (kg or lb).
- Every lift entry: the lift, the weight, the date, and the bodyweight snapshotted at the time of entry.
- Personal record flags and the percentile history derived from your entries.
- App preferences such as appearance and analytics opt-out.
What We Never Collect
- No account, no email address, and no contact details.
- No actual lift weights or bodyweight in analytics - only ten-point percentile bands.
- No location, no contacts, no microphone, no camera, and no photo library access.
- No advertising identifiers, no ads, and no tracking across apps or websites.
- No Apple Health data: Benchmark does not read from or write to HealthKit.
- No data sold, rented or shared with third parties.
Purchases
Benchmark Full is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan) processed by Apple through StoreKit, with entitlements managed by RevenueCat. We never receive or store your name, email, payment details or Apple Account credentials - only an anonymous entitlement indicating whether Full is unlocked. Subscriptions renew through your Apple Account and can be cancelled there or from the app's Settings at any time. Bench press remains free regardless of subscription status.
Share Cards
Share cards are rendered on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet. Nothing is uploaded, and Benchmark has no server to upload to. Whether a card includes your bodyweight and actual lifted weight is a toggle that defaults to off - the more conservative option - so sharing your percentile never shares your numbers unless you choose to.
Third-Party Services
- Apple StoreKit - processes the Benchmark Full purchase through your Apple Account.
- RevenueCat - manages the anonymous subscription entitlement.
- PostHog - anonymous, bucketed usage analytics, with an opt-out in Settings.
- That is the complete list. There are no ad networks, no attribution SDKs, and no other trackers.
Children's Privacy
Benchmark is a strength training utility intended for lifters aged 13 and up. It collects no personal information from any user: no account, no contact details, and no behavioural data linked to an identity. The optional age field is used only to select comparison curves and never leaves the device.
Deleting Your Data
Long-press any entry to delete it - deletion is immediate and permanent, because there is no cloud copy to recover from. Deleting the app removes everything stored locally. To stop analytics at any time, use the switch in Settings → Privacy; because analytics are anonymous and bucketed, there is no server-side profile of you to request or delete.
